1. Set a block of time when writing. This is most important and it was really a big help to me because I can have the tendency to get lost a spot in my work. I always try to manage my time when writing. Basically, it helps me to work in spurts of energy with breaks in between. In only do them help with my focus, but it also helps with finishing the writing tasks.
2. Clear out all other disruptions. We think that multitasking is the way to be proficient. From my experience the opposite to be true. It drains me and interrupts the flow. Set a piece of paper near you and every time you feel of something else to do, just write it on the paper and get to it later. Keep focused on the task at hand.
3. Complete the first draft without edits. This is an important skill. There is a delicate balance here that is important. Some writers want their product to be such high quality that they work on one paper for way too long. If someone points out a mistake or error, thanks them and try to fix the problem, but keeping creating!
